Important resources for clinicians and recovery home managers/operators

SUPR is pleased to announce that one or more resources were sent to organizations licensed to provide substance use disorder treatment and recovery home services. Prevention First coordinated the distribution of these resources with program developers.

All organizations licensed to provide SUD treatment services were sent the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fifth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-5- TR). DSM-5 TR is the most comprehensive and current resource available to inform clinical practice. This publication includes fully revised text and references, updated diagnostic criteria and ICD-10-CM codes since DSM-5 was published in 2013. This edition also includes codes for suicidal behavior available to all clinicians of any discipline without the requirement of any other diagnosis.

Seeking Safety: All organizations licensed to provide SUD treatment and recovery home services were sent “Seeking Safety – A Treatment Manual for PTSD and Substance Abuse”. If your organization provides services to adolescence and/or specifically focuses on women, your organization was sent additional resources: “A Women’s Addiction Workbook” and/or “Seeking Safety for Adolescence Workbook”.

To support the implementation of evidence-based practices that address trauma and SUDs, IDHS/SUPR is sponsoring Seeking Safety and DSM-5 in addition to other training offerings. IDHS-SUPR will be sharing more information about the fiscal year 2024 training offerings in a separate Smart Alert. Information about the training offerings will be posted on Prevention First’s website at SUPR Treatment and Recovery Training.
