William L. “Bill” White is renowned in the field of addiction treatment and recovery as a researcher, consultant, trainer, and writer. In the early 1970s, he helped to establish Bloomington, IL-based Chestnut Health Systems and later co-founded its research entity, Lighthouse Institute. An emeritus senior research consultant for Lighthouse, Bill has authored or co-authored more than 400 articles, monographs, research reports, and book chapters as well as 20 books. More than 50 peer-reviewed and professional journals have published Bill’s writings. His career has spanned 50-plus years and has taken him to 45 states and three continents. He has won numerous awards and honors and has appeared in and consulted on documentary films about addiction.
