“Strengthening The Bilingual Mental Health
Workforce Initiative”

| For over 20 years, the Illinois Children’s Healthcare Foundation (ILCHF) has worked with grantee partners across the state to achieve a single vision: that every child in Illinois grows up healthy. Throughout its history, ILCHF has learned from communities, providers, and families about the successes and challenges associated with improving children’s health.
One of the recent challenges expressed centered the overall health and well-being of New Arrivals. Illinois has been an established welcoming state to immigrants, refugees, and asylees with pockets of immigrant communities across the state. Since August 2022, the city of Chicago has received the vast majority of more than 41,000 men, women, and children who are categorized as “new arrivals.” In order to achieve desired health and well-being outcomes, new arrivals require a healthcare workforce that is culturally and linguistically reflective of the community being served, including behavioral health professionals.
As a response to these unmet and emerging needs, ILCHF has issued the
“STRENGTHENING THE BILINGUAL MENTAL HEALTH WORKFORCE INITIATIVE” REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL (RFP).
Through this initiative, ILCHF seeks to award three 2-year grants of up to $100,000 each for nonprofit organizations, located and/or operating in Illinois. This statewide grant opportunity is available to nonprofit 501(c)3 organizations that have demonstrated capacity to provide bilingual clinical supervision to intermediate to fully bilingual advance degree interns, or intermediate to fully bilingual recent graduates receiving clinical supervision hours towards their clinical licensure.
