On April 17, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued a press release sharing that revisions made to the HHS Notice of Benefit and Payment Parameters for 2024 Final Rule revisions made to the CMS final rule will expand access to behavioral health care. The revisions to the final rule now include two new Essential Community Provider (ECP) categories, Substance Use Disorder Treatment Centers and Mental Health Facilities.  Qualified Health Plans in the Federally Facilitated Marketplace must have a “sufficient number and geographic distribution of ECPs, where available, to ensure reasonable and timely access to a broad range of such providers for low-income, medically underserved individuals in the plan’s service area.”
