On August 11th, Governor J.B. Pritzker signed Senate Bill 646, a significant step towards addressing the profound impact of trauma in communities. The legislation will establish a Task Force for a Healing-Centered Illinois, led by Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton, to support state and community-based agencies across multiple sectors to become trauma-informed and healing-centered. This initiative demonstrates a commitment to understanding the far-reaching effects of trauma and creating safer, more supportive environments for all Illinoisans.

We thank our partners across the state, including members of our Statewide Working Group, the Illinois Childhood Trauma Coalition, the Center for Childhood Resilience, and others for their advocacy for this critical legislation. Read our fact sheet to learn more about the Task Force.
