| Self-Determination Strategies for
Promoting Service User Engagement |
|
| This interactive asynchronous training teaches providers how to engage service users in therapeutic relationships using self-determination strategies. Grounded in the empirically-supported psychological theory of self-determination, students are introduced to approaches that build therapeutic alliances and avoid premature disengagement from services. They also learn how to use a tool called Express Yourself! to enhance motivation to change and avoid client termination from services prior to improvement.
The BHWC will be hosting a monthly virtual learning collaborative – facilitated by Dr. Virginia Selleck – to share resources, ideas, and best practice for engaging and retaining clients. After completing the training, participants will receive additional information on how to join this collaborative.
