DDD ISSUES ILLINOIS PAID LEAVE FOR ALL WORKERS ACT GUIDANCE
In March 2023, Governor Pritzker signed the Paid Leave for All Workers Act allowing all workers in Illinois to begin earning and using paid time off. The Act became effective January 1, 2024. On this date, workers begin earning paid leave and can begin using earned paid leave on April 1, 2024. DDD worked with the Illinois Department of Labor (DOL) to develop an Information Bulletin to explain the Act and how it will be implemented among DDD service providers. DIRECT SUPPORT PROFESSIONAL RFI RELEASED!
A Request for Information (RFI) is posted on the State of Illinois procurement page to solicit Information from training providers regarding a credentialed online Direct Service Professional (DSP) training program. Information sought includes development, maintenance, and other operational services to provide a statewide DSP curriculum that is credentialed by the National Alliance of Direct Support Professionals (NADSP). Learning Management System (LMS) providers must complete submission through the State of Illinois BidBuy portal by January 31, 2024, at 2 p.m. The RFI process and details may be reviewed here: State of Illinois – General Services – Bid Solicitation.
UPDATED MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING BETWEEN DDD AND DIVISION OF REHABILITATION SERVICES
Aligned with DDD and the Division of Rehabilitation Services’ (DRS) shared commitment to collaboration and the provision of high quality Competitive Integrated Employment (CIE) services for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), Directors Tonya Piephoff (DDD) and Rahnee Patrick (DRS) are pleased to share an update to the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between DDD and DRS. The amended MOU, signed in December of 2023, serves as the guidepost for utilization of employment services through both divisions going forward and replaces the MOU originally enacted in September of 2020. Staff from both DDD and DRS are currently planning a joint training effort to review the MOU with stakeholders and interested parties. Registration will be required, and the specific date and time will be announced in a forthcoming DDD Communication. In the interim, DDD and DRS encourage all stakeholders to review the amended DDD DRS Memorandum of Understanding.
UPCOMING DDD TRAINING
DDD will be offering a training on Community Integrated Employment (CIE) on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. All individuals, including individuals with the most significant disabilities, are capable of full participation in CIE and community life. This training session will provide details to assist individuals in gaining CIE. Registration link: Community Integrated Employment registration – Webex.
