The National Strategy for Suicide Prevention (National Strategy) was originally released in 2001 and updated in 2012 by the U.S. Surgeon General and the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention (Action Alliance), the nation’s public-private partnership for suicide prevention. The National Strategy was created to guide suicide prevention efforts in the United States through 2022. Most recently, a Call to Action was released by the Surgeon General in 2021 calling for renewed focus on the National Strategy. Read more
