On Saturday, June 25, the president signed the Bipartisan Safer Communities Actinto law, legislation that will dramatically increase funding for mental health and substance use programs and address gun violence in America. This is one of the most consequential bills ever to address mental health and substance use treatment. The Bipartisan Safer Communities Act will have a significant impact on what the National Council can do and the services our members provide, and it will support and expand access to community-based services nationwide.

The “Bipartisan Safer Communities Act” included $1 billion for school mental health services and demonstration grants.
