ACMHAI Webinar: Making Digital Mental Health Work in the Real World

January 14 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Speakers:

  • Dr. Niranjan Karnik, University of Illinois Chicago
  • Dr. David Mohr, Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine

A large and consistent body of evidence has consistently demonstrated the effectiveness of digital mental health treatments (DMHTs) for common mental health problems such as depression and anxiety.  DMHTs offer the potential for scalable, accessible treatments that can complement traditional services, extend care to patients who are unable to access other forms of treatment, and create efficiencies that extend the capacities of mental health services.  This talk will examine the challenges encountered in implementing digital mental health solutions within healthcare systems, including issues related to integration with existing clinical workflows, clinician and patient engagement, equity in access, and data privacy. Lessons learned from real-world deployments will be highlighted. The talk will briefly cover the rapidly evolving landscape of regulatory frameworks and reimbursement mechanisms, which remain critical determinants of sustainable implementation. Combining evidence, implementation experience, and policy, this presentation will outline what is needed to realize the full potential of digital mental health.
