Speakers: Nanette Larson, Deputy Director of Wellness and Recovery, Illinois Department of Human Services | Lisa Betz, Deputy Director of Child and Adolescent Services, Illinois Department of Human Services
About this Session: With the FCC’s ruling to move the National Suicide Prevention Line to a 3 digit number in July, 2022, states are focused on the expansion of mental health crisis care, with the intent of a comprehensive continuum of crisis services available to anyone, anywhere, at any time. Deputy Director of Wellness and Recovery Services, Nanette Larson, will present on the Illinois Department of Human Services/Division of Mental Health’s planning efforts to evolve and expand services for individuals experiencing mental health, substance use and/or suicidal crises, including expansion of call center capacity, the development of mobile crisis response teams, and work to integrate services into the emergency response system, so that individuals receive the appropriate response from staff who are specifically trained and qualified to provide assistance to help the person resolve the crisis. Following her presentation, Deputy Larson will be joined by Deputy Director of Child and Adolescent Services, Lisa Betz, for a question and answer period.
